In Top Dog, Dylan tries to work out why Floyd, a newcomer to the village is acting so strangely. And why does everyone else like him when Dylan can see there is something very wrong? In My Name is River, Dylan and Floyd, who are now friends, go on a dangerous adventure to Brazil and up the Amazon river. But will they - and their newborn friendship - survive the journey?
I grew up partly in Pembrokeshire and when I had my own children I wanted to give them a rural childhood too, so we lived in mid-Wales for a while. These experiences inspired my stories about Dylan, the hero of my first two books.
My favourite stories growing up were Five Children and It by E Nesbit and Willard Price's adventure books and recently I've loved The Murderer's Ape by Jakob Wegelius, Where the World Ends by Geraldine McCaughrean (everything by her), Aubrey and the Terrible Yoot by Horatio Clare, Hilary McKay's books and all of Eva Ibbotson's work, among many, many others.
I've had all sorts of jobs: book reviewer, journalist, salesperson of cardboard boxes, temporary secretary, but the most fun was being a tractor driver for two summers and spending all day in the fields.
Please look around my website - you'll find fun ideas for things to do connected to my stories, ways to contact me, and my occasional blog about writing.
